Fear of Painting

Henri-tense-close-up

Actual painters sometimes paint their studio, showing some of their past works on the wall. I decided to follow in that tradition, but at the same time, to confuse the art historians, I would "quote" an as-yet unpainted self-portrait, and then create the original as an imitation of the quote. I did this three times, yielding a sort of narrative, titled "Fear of Painting".

While I grew more confident, I did not completely overcome my fear. I was unable to execute the plan I had for the last painting. I had intended to have colorful curvy lines coming out of my head in all directions, but I chickened out.
